FAQ : iCOZ problems/malfunction

The iCOZ client is a windows-application which runs at a local computer and stores active data on this computer. In case connected to the internet, the app will synchronise the data with the iCOZ-server. It is important to realise that this is different from appliactions which run in a web browser and require an internet connection at all times. So you can use the iCOZ in the train or the bus as long as the course data (your problems) have been downloaded. Any scores can be transferred after an internet connection has been established by using the synchronise button in the App. This way of working also demands that the user is the local resposible user for instalation and connecting to the internet. It helps to have administrator rights to be able to do the maintenance on your computer. Keep your device also free from hazards like computer viruses and trojans. If needed make sure ecoz.exe is recognised by an installed firewall. Most obvious malfunctions occur due to:
  • no synchronisation done in time, change of block will automatically synchronise the data
  • use of iCOZ course which already is active on a different computer without releasing it on the other computer
  • improper installation (unzipping the zip file and using the correct course key)
  • incorrect log on codes, use your coz-id and pincode as obtained
  • hampered internet connection due to firewall or other security measures
  • The iCOZ is a Windows application. For Apple and Linux alternative solutions are available.

Please find in the table the most frequent reported issues and possible solutions for these problems:

dec 2020New version, download and install just on top of existing one, no data will be lost.
general In case of clock error check the settings (time and time/date zone) and try later again.
general Make sure your computer has the correct time and time/date zone, you find this in windows settings. Do not mess up with this because you will be locked on the server.
general Do not use the iCOZ installer on a windows desktop in one of the computer rooms, log on with the course code on these compters (e.g. citg_ct1031) and use the pre-installed iCOZ.
general Info about TU-Delft network maintenance or malfunctioning can be found here.
general Make sure if you wnat to de-install the iCOZ application, to FIRST synchronise your data with the server.
general Use the most recent installation and course key! Did you use COZ in a previous academic year then de-install the old one, and install the new version. Updates within the academic year can be installed on top of the exsisting verion.
general Use the correct pincode and do not try to use wrong pincodes, you will be blocked on the server. Use your study number, and use only the digits in it (if relevant).
general If blocked try it one hour later again (with correct COZ-id and pincode), in most cases blocked users are released automatically after one hour.
general For CIE students the pincode can be obtained through the iCOZ page of the course, Architecture students cannot use the CIE system, they use the server at Architecture. Architecture students also have to report errors to their contact at the faculty of Architecture.
general If the installer is blocked by your windows security system try the zipped-installation. First unzip the downloaded zip-file in a temporary folder and next run the installer from the zip.
    general PROBLEM
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. Het systeembestand is niet geschikt voor MS-DOS en Mirosoft Windows toepassingen. Kies Sluiten om de toepassing af te sluiten.

    SOLUTION
Copy from this folder C:Windows\repair the file autoexec.nt to the folder c:windows\system32. Then mark this file as "read only" and reboot. Install the iCOZ again. This is a very old XP-problem so STOP USING windows XP and Windows 7.

If your problem is not listed here or you have no clue what is wrong, report your problem or questions with iCOZ here.
