This page shows the outline of the theory of plasticity which is handled in four meetings during the classes of CM4. The text book used is "Toegepaste Mechanica deel 3, Statisch Onbepaalde Constructies en Bezwijkanalyse" by Coenraad Hartsuijker and Hans Welleman. There are two editions available on the market, both versions can be used. The page numbers of the old edition (landscape) are given between brackets. International students can use an alternative book which is no longer available in the book shops but can be downloaded here.

Students have to study all the chapters of Module 2 of the book except chapter 7 which is for reading only. Theory and application is covered with examples which are primarely not found in the book. Practise also on the numerous examples from the book:

assignments on page 272 (380), take a close look at 2.1 - 2.4, 2.6 (shown in class)
assignments on page 294 - 295 (408 - 410)
assignments on page 355 - 363 (490 - 500)

Do not study on all assignments in the book, just pick a few. If the understanding of the kinematics of frames has slightly faded away, re-read section 3.2 starting from page 74 - 83 (93 - 105) from the book and the associated examples. Use the available educational program Mp for assignments on frames to check your results.
